My opening feelings for 2025 and the presidency we face.
When I think about what the world needs right now, what I feel I also need in my bones, the word I hear is “love”.
At times this word can feel so overused by folks spiritually bypassing horrific events, and yet, when we really distill it’s meaning and remember the true embodiment of love, nothing could be more powerful or more critical right now.
When the media screams at us to become paralyzed from fear mongering and hateful redirect by our president, I am going to lovingly demand that you go inward.
That you find that piece inside you that believes in a better world.
That piece in you that wants health and happiness for your neighbor.
The piece in you that hurts when you see someone unhoused sitting on the corner.
That feeling, that care you have, it is a light.
A light that we can not afford to let die.
And certainly not to people who have such harmful intentions for our planet, for our country, for our immigrants, for our trans brothers and sisters.
Those people who want to cause harm do not get to touch our light.
And they certainly don’t get to put it out.
This hate, it has no power over love.
Yes, they may create policies and push back on progress that has been made but they will not win the ultimate war.
Because there is no world in which hate and evil win.
None.
So, as you take a deep inhale, as your anxiety starts racing, do not let the fear win.
Do not become frozen and embolized.
Move your body.
Hug your pets.
Volunteer in your community.
Create art.
Be the resistance.
Pray.
Meditate.
Love with a holiness that chases away all fear.
Be the light you want for our planet.
